At COR, we use working hours to define the days and times our users work.
It is essential to configure these hours, as it allows us to calculate employee capacity and makes it easier for them to know how many hours they should log each day, as well as ensuring that vacation and leave hours are deducted correctly.
By defining the working hours precisely, the accuracy of the suggested hours to be logged is also improved, thus optimizing time and resource management.
We have the option to configure a company work hours from the Settings section, which we access from the menu that appears when we click on our profile icon:
We can also access the section from the left sidebar by clicking on the gear icon:
In the Settings module, on the ‘General Info’ tab, go to the “Working Hours Settings” section, where you can customize the company's general working hours:
Note: To see this option, we need to have Director or C-Level role and have ‘View -> Settings’ permissions.
To save the changes, scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘OK’.
New users will be created by default with the company's assigned work hours, but they can use their own custom working hours if necessary. This ensures flexibility in managing working time and allows each employee to operate according to their own work hours, without affecting the company's overall schedule.
To configure the working hours for a particular user, we must access their profile from the ‘People’ module:
Once in the user profile, go to the ‘Employee data’ tab:
With the ‘Use company working hours’ toggle, we can determine whether the user has the same working hours as in the general settings, or if they have different working hours.
For each user, we have the same configuration options as at the company level, being able to select different hours per day, lunch hours, and which days of the week they work:
Note: Updates to working hours or leave may take up to 1 hour to take effect for users.
Based on the user's configured work hours, COR will calculate their target number of hours for each day:
Also, if we work with Capacity Planning, the capacity and availability of users will be calculated based on their work hours.
